On August 7th and 8th, 2025, Salvador was once again the stage for an event discussing public engagement in science. Researchers from the Global Health Research Unit on Social and Environmental Determinants of Health Inequalities (SEDHI), along with community leaders and health managers, discussed problems, shared data, and brainstormed solutions to create and improve public health policies.
The Public Engagement Advisory Committee for Science of the SEDHI Research Unit was officially implemented in September 2023. Civil society participation and public managers working alongside scientists to formulate research questions and future investigations is one of the guiding principles of the SEDHI Unit. The meeting of the Advisory Committee members was marked by many exchanges and emotions, coming from different realities and perspectives.
